Tesla Powerwall 3 13.5 kWh Hybrid Battery System

The Tesla Powerwall 3 is a fully integrated solar battery and hybrid inverter system designed for residential energy storage and backup power. With a nominal capacity of 13.5 kWh AC and continuous AC output of 5 kW, it supports up to 20 kW of direct DC solar input through three integrated MPPTs. The system stores solar or grid energy for use when the sun sets or electricity prices are high, reducing reliance on the grid and lowering energy bills.

Powerwall 3 features an IP55-rated enclosure suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, operates across –20°C to 50°C, and includes integrated protections such as arc fault detection (AFCI), isolation monitoring, and rapid shutdown capability. A single unit can start heavy loads rated up to 185 A LRA. Multiple units and Expansion batteries can be stacked for scalability, supporting up to 4 Powerwall 3 units and 3 Expansion units for a maximum system capacity of 94.5 kWh and 44 kW AC output.

The system is controlled and monitored via the Tesla Mobile App and operates with the optional Backup Gateway 2 for grid isolation and backup functionality. Installation requires a certified Tesla installer. A 10-year product warranty applies when the device is reliably connected to the internet.
