Stäubli Male Cable Coupler MC4 (7.0-8.8 mm)

Stäubli Male Cable Coupler MC4 (7.0-8.8 mm)

The Stäubli MC4 male connectors 7.0 - 8.8 mm are specially designed to be used in combination with the solar cables from Athilex. The connector dimensions 7.0 mm and 8.8 mm have to do with the outer diameter of a cable. For the 4 mm² cable the outside diameter is 5.9 mm and for the 6 mm² cable the outside diameter is 6.8 mm.

MC4 connectors are single-contact electrical connectors. MC4 connectors are the standard in the solar energy market today and have been used on almost all solar panels since 2011.

MC in MC4 stands for Multi-Contact, nowadays known as Stäubli Electrical Connectors. The 4 stands for the 4mm diameter of the contact pin. The convenience of MC4 connectors lies in manual coupling. This is very easy thanks to the snap-in-lock design, in other words an integrated plug-in connector. It is ideal for connecting solar panels in a string.
